QIP

Multipurpose interface for Nortek current sensors
The QIP was developed by Qmetrix as the link between the EasyQ / EasyV Doppler current meters and the outside world. It is based on a powerful microcontroller and fitted with a number of interfaces. This way the current meter, together with optional other instruments can be connected to any (existing) infrastructure.
Versatile outputs: Digital or Analogue
Besides several serial interfaces for connecting the QIP to a PLC or computer (-network), the unit has three analogue outputs. These outputs may be configured as voltage or milliamps and can be used to connect to existing data loggers or analogue control systems.
The RS-422 output allows for communication to the instrument over long cables, and by using the RS-485 output, multiple sensors may be connected to a single cable using the industry standard MODBUS® protocol.
The QIP-2 also has two switch outputs which may be used to control valves, pumps or an alarm.
Discharge calculation
The QIP uses field proven algorithms to calculate discharge from EasyQ or EasyV data. The availability of a discharge value allows you to create fully automated flow control using QIP controlled valves or pumps.
Direct readout
Depending on your application, the LCD display shows the measurement results like discharge, average velocity, temperature or water level in real time.
Telemetry
The QIP can control a GSM modem and send data at specified intervals to any location. Data may be transmitted as SMS messages, or collected by using a dial-in connection from an external computer.
Data storage
The QIP has 1 megabyte non-volatile ‘flash’ memory. This may be used to store the data for backup purposes, or just to collect data over a longer period . Data from flash can also be retrieved over (GSM) modem.
Setup and diagnostics
While installing or inspecting the EasyQ / EasyV the QIP can switch to ‘transparent mode’. This allows you to communicate to the sensor using the standard software and commands.
Housing
Several housing options are available. There is a splash-proof wall mount version, a DIN-Rail version, and it’s possible to mount the small version of the QIP inside the EasyQ / EasyV.
